It looks like the Democrats are jumping off yet another electoral cliff. As "Zantax", a blogger at Hannity.com so succinctly put it, "Democrats always over-reach, they smell a hint of a democratic tide coming in and reach as far left as they think they can get away with..."

It now looks like the nomination of the Dems' newest far-Left candidate, Barack Obama, is all sewn up and they have what they think is the dream candidate. He's as far Left as one can get yet he seems so reasonable and moderate. This is not the first time the Dems have nominated a stealth-leftie. But you would think it would be the last given the track record of failure they have with this strategy.

It seems the Dems simply can't resist the urge to put forward the most Leftwing candidate possible. Yet the care they use to make sure no one notices just how Leftist their candidates are reveal that they know exactly what they're doing. They're trying to put one over on us again.

Remember Howard Dean's 2004 campaign? He was also as Left as it gets, but he had a big problem with Democratic voters. His Leftwardness was not stealthy enough. He had revealed too much. The country knew what a left-wing wacko he really was. He couldn't keep his big mouth shut. That's when the Dems of Iowa decided to jump on the John Kerry bandwagon. They knew he was one of them, but he was smart enough to conceal it from the general public. Thankfully he was outted by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Barack Obama is in the same boat (so-to-speak) as John Kerry. He comes across as quiet moderate, yet the left wing of the party knows he's one of theirs. As his past associations are slowly revealing, he is quite radical and quite leftist. Like "Zantax" said though, the Dems can't resist pushing the envelope and reaching for the most left-wing candidate they think stands a chance to win. It's hard to imagine though how in the case of Obama they don't see his weaknesses. It's hard to imagine they think mainstream American voters really don't mind if a candidate went to a racist church for 20 years! It's hard to see how they don't understand that mainstream Americans don't want a president whose wife evidently hates her country.

Are they simply blinded because left-wing ideology occupies so many important segments of society? Do they think everyone thinks that way? Leftist ideology dominates society from the University to the media to the arts. Maybe it’s easy to believe that’s how everyone in the country thinks. But it's hard to see why Democrats fail to learn from history and never see the freight train coming. Why don't they learn that the minute their candidates are outted as the Leftists they are they go on to lose every election. From George McGovern through John Kerry.

It looks like Democrats are making the same mistake again. Against all the warning signs Barack Obama has thrown up during this campaign so far, they have insisted that he is their man. He's the one Leftist enough to appeal to the Democratic base yet seemingly moderate enough to fool voters into believing he's no different than all the Leftists they've nominated before. Hillary Clinton actually makes a good point when she says she is the more electable of the two. I think she probably is. So Republicans should be happy with this outcome. Not that Obama is any slouch of a candidate or that the campaign will be easy, but because he has so many Leftists ghosts in his closet. And because history shows, as those ghosts are brought out the Leftist candidate always loses the support of the American electorate.

As you can read here, there are so many things in his background that are offensive to a large number of Americans. He has already slipped in the opinion polls. The latest Rasmussen poll shows John McCain ahead by 5 points now. That’s the largest lead he has had against the Democrat since he became the putative Republican nominee. When you start to add up all the connections Obama has with his racist pastor, the America-hating William Ayers, all the crazies who support him like Hamas, it’s going to take a toll. Democrats are not alarmed by these things in the least because on the whole they agree with them!

Democrats don't differ much in their view of foreign affairs with Hamas. They don’t see what Rev. Wright said that was all that bad. After all, they believe like he, that America deserved 9/11 because of all the horrible things it has done to other countries. And this is their blind spot. They simply do not know that most Americans don’t feel the same way. And this should put them in for a huge surprise in November. If Obama loses, mark my word, they will blame it on the latent and intractable racism of the American voters. But excuses like that will only make them more likely to commit the same mistake next time. Let's just hope they continue blaming racism and never learn the real lessons!

"Zantax", the blogger at Hannity.com sums it up very succinctly when he says:

"They're tossing out another sure thing in a grab for the fat socialist golden ring they always have their eye on. I do think they would have gone with Hillary after the Rev. Wright fiasco if they could have but it was too late to do so without alienating black people, it's no coincidence so many super-delegates have been dragging their heels this long."

EXACTLY!
